Guitarist Peter White is charming his fans with his latest release, Good Day. The album features the British-born guitarist performing mostly original tunes after several albums dominated by covers.
White says that some of the material for Good Day came from melodies he began many years ago and rediscovered. He polished them up for the new CD with help from producers D.C. and Philippe Saisse, but he didn't want to change them too much despite the fact that they were older tunes.
He explained: "Some of the comments I've got already from people who've heard the music are saying, 'You know, we like this because it's more like the Peter White music that we know from when you started back in the '90s.' And I thought, well, that's an interesting comment, I never even thought about that. And thank goodness I had the help of people like D.C. and Philippe Saisse who really helped me to update the sound of the music."
White's leadoff single, "Bright," regained the Number One spot on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Singles chart this week.
