Smooth Jazz Saxophone star Najee is riding high with his brand-new CD Mind Over Matter, which was released just this week. The set features the fast-rising first single "Sweet Summer Nights," co-written by Darren Rahn.
The album also features a guest appearance by singer-songwriter Eric Benet. Najee says he's long been a fan of the artist and reached out to him for the song "We Gone Ride," which Benet also co-wrote. Najee explained that he's been impressed by Benet, who appeared on the multi-artist Hit Man: David Foster & Friends CD from 2008 as well as Jeff Lorber's He Had A Hat.
Said Najee: "He's a very broad talent. Actually, to be honsest with you, I've been a fan of his forever because he's -- to me he's another one who is underutilized in some ways as a writer and a the contribution he can honestly make in the industry as a singer and a songwriter. And even though he's known as R&B, I've heard him do other things and, you know, he does it well. I heard him with Jeff Lorber and he did one song with David Foster, I believe it was on his last album."
Mind Over Matter also features appearances by Jeff Lorber and Gary Taylor.
