Trumpeter Chris Botti, who spends most of his downtime in hotel rooms and on friends' couches because of his tour schedule, has once more invested in a home. The popular instrumentalist says he couldn't resist the real estate market's lower interest rates and finally bought a house in California's Hollywood Hills earlier this year.
The property is fully furnished, and had been set up for a photo shoot when Botti first saw it. "I walked in and (thought) I'll take it, with everything. From the ash trays to the soap dishes," he told ShowBiz411.com. "It was done very tastefully," he said, adding that friends Sting and Trudi Styler approved. "They couldn't believe how nice it was," he said.
This is the second time in three years that Botti has attempted a grab at permanence. Back in 2006 the busy road warrior purchased a $4 million Manhattan apartment in the SoHo district that was previously owned by his buddy Sting. But the trumpeter gave it up after not spending any real time there.
In recent years Botti has gotten a kick out of telling interviewers that he's been essentially homeless since 1999, when he gave up his previous New York City apartment and put his things into storage to accommodate his heavy touring schedule.
Botti will be back in the Big Apple on June 4th for a show at New York's Beacon Theater in support of his star-studded CD/DVD Live In Boston.
The musician may get to spend some quality time in his new Hollywood digs this August, when he gets a couple of weeks off before resuming his tour in September.
